The Washington Post today: Virginia wines meet Jean-Georges' approval

We are pleased to note Dave McIntyre's column in the Washington Post Food Section today: Virginia wines meet Jean Georges' approval. Both our Topiary and Boxwood wines grace the notable and carefully refined wine list at J&G Steakhouse in the W Hotel, Washington DC. The menus and lists at J&G are as breathtaking as the dining room pictured above; we are honored to be served by this fine restaurant.

If you have not yet dined at J&G, then it is time for an unparalleled steakhouse experience to go along with our delicious wines.

Boxwood featured in Wine Enthusiast Magazine

"Just outside Middleburg you'll find Boxwood Winery, producer of Boxwood, an impressive Left Bank Bordeaux-style blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot. Also worth a try is their Topiary - a lucious Right Bank-style blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Malbec. Winery and vineyard tours are arranged by appointment. Also on the grounds and member of the Boxwood team is The Tasting Room wine bar and shop, featuring a global selection of wines by the glass or for purchase by the bottle for your picnic or tailgate party (16 E. Washington Street, boxwoodwinery.com)."

Object in motion

Boxwood Winery and The Tasting Room Wine Bars & Shops are businesses that slow down only to carefully contemplate moving forward. There is no resting on laurels.

The Tasting Room's began in the winery's hometown in Middleburg in 2007. In 2009, the Reston Town Center location opened. January 2010 brought Chevy Chase at Wisconsin Place. In all instances, Enomatic machines which blazed the path of enoteca-style wine tasting services, took flight for local consumers. They are not just a little something new: The Tasting Rooms are only part wine bar, the rest is self-service wine education.

Taste one ounce of wine, then an ounce of something different, and so on. Learning the difference between a Bordeaux and a Burgundy no longer requires ordering a glass or buying a bottle which may or may not be pleasing once opened at home.

The taste-as-you-like concept has won a lot of minds for sound, exciting, and entertaining reasons.

The Tasting Room's following is larger by the day. It made sense to expand this business further in the Washington DC metro area.

In that spirit, please meet National Harbor. We are thrilled to welcome this fourth home of ours into the fold.

While no two are the same, National Harbor is a world apart from Reston and Chevy Chase. Indoors, the size of this Tasting Room is roughly equivalent to Reston. Outside however, the tremendous patio space will have 36 tables. It is a great undertaking. But we have equally great leadership and we have never met a challenge we did not embrace.

By the time you come to see us at National Harbor, not only will the store be completed but the patio space will be increased to wrap around the store and then sectioned off from the promenade; creating a great outdoor room with a commanding view of the harbor for you to enjoy while you taste a few of our amazing wine selections.

We will meet you there in April.
